Privacy Policy
Spark Learning Inquiry Studio is built by educators, for educators. We treat your data the way we'd want ours treated — with transparency, restraint, and respect.
Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. This is used solely to identify your account and personalize your experience.
Content You Create
Lesson plans, inquiry cycles, lecture recordings, drawings, notes, and any other instructional materials you build inside the app. This content belongs to you.
Usage Data
We collect basic analytics (page views, feature usage) through Sentry for error tracking and performance monitoring. We do not track your browsing activity outside the app.
- Saving and syncing your instructional designs across devices
- Generating AI-powered suggestions when you opt in (via Google Gemini)
- Exporting your work to Google Docs or PDF
- Uploading lecture videos to your own Google Drive for student sharing
- Processing subscription payments through Stripe
- Diagnosing errors and improving app reliability
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with data brokers.
Your account data and instructional content are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States.
Lecture videos are uploaded to your own Google Drive account — we never store your video files on our servers. The app creates a "Spark Videos" folder in your Drive and uploads there with your explicit permission.
Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number.
Spark Learning uses Google APIs to enable sign-in, Drive exports, and Docs creation. We request only the permissions needed:
- drive.file — Create and manage only the files this app creates in your Drive (lecture videos, exported docs)
- documents — Create Google Docs when you export your inquiry cycles
We cannot access your other Drive files, emails, calendar, or any other Google data.
Spark Learning Inquiry Studio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
When you use AI-powered features (question generation, key concept extraction, lecture coaching), portions of your instructional content are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing.
- AI features are always optional — the core design tools work without them
- We send only the specific content needed for the request (e.g., your lesson title and explanation text)
- Google may process this data according to their Gemini API Terms
Spark Learning is a teacher-facing instructional design tool. We do not collect, store, or process student data.
- Students may view shared content (lecture videos, exported materials) but are never required to create accounts
- No student personally identifiable information (PII) is collected
- We comply with FERPA requirements — we are not a school official and do not access education records
- The app is not directed at children under 13 and complies with COPPA
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. When you subscribe, Stripe collects your payment details directly. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status — never your card number.
You can at any time:
- Access all your data by viewing your cycle folder and settings
- Export your work as PDFs or Google Docs
- Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us
- Revoke Google Drive/Docs access via your Google Account permissions
